White
town of Cadiz, beaches, lodgings, restaurants...
Vejer
de la Frontera was declared Historic and Artistic
Collection in 1976. Its walled enclosure counts with
up to four gates (the arches of La Segur, Sancho
IV, La Villa and Puerta Cerrada) and three towners
(Torre Mayorazgo, San Juan and La Corredera)
Just
a la cerca (the wall) well preserved and integrated
in the city. Of equal significance is its castle, which
combines Muslim and Cristian elements. With a rectangular
structure, its 11th century gate shows the way to the
main court and the parade ground, from whose battlements
one perceives the beauty of the local landscape.
La
Juderia ist a clear example of Medieval urbanism that
reminds the visitor Muslim and Sephardic presence.
Outside
the primitive walled enclosure lies the Plaza de España,
built on the 16th century, which, initially, held the
bullfighting events organized by the nobles and knights
of Vejer de
la Frontera.

Frontera. Enjoy with the Vejer de la Frontera history.
Among
the ancestral
homes,
two
of
them, finished in the Baroque style, stand out impressively.
Palacio del Marqués de Tamarón (17-18th
centurys) and the Casa del Mayorazgo (18th century).
Regarding
religious architecture, it is essential to visit the
parochial church of the Divine Saviour, constructed
on the remains of a previous musk, whose minaret is
yet preserved. From the Mudejar and Gothic of the headboard,
to Reanissance and Baroque.
Two
significant constructions are the church and nunnery
of the Conceptionists, dating from the 16th century,
considered on of the most excellent Renaissance collections
of the province.
