To arrive for the first time at Caños de Meca and not to be aware of its quality of life, are impossible. When one is here, it´s easy to switch off and enjoy your days off. To take a walk through it´s quiet streets - in winter - or summer, is a regular privilege of the place. There is a hippie atmosphere, although the passage of the years is bringing all type of people who long for unforgettable experiences; all of them drawn by the sensation of freedom and mutual respect, that are important qualities in los Caños. For example, to leave to ride by the beach at dusk is one of the experiences that better defines the many realaxing possibilities, when you are here in , Caños de Meca/Cabo de Trafalgar.

In winter, the place becomes very relaxed. The most beautiful corners - that are busier in the summer - become absolutely empty in the quieter seasons. For example the main road that separates Marisucia de la Playa del Faro (or nudist beach) that we see in the image. The beautiful Faro de Trafalgar, was restored at the beginning of the last century. .

The fashionable bars are really very few. Fashion is not important in Caños, the quality of life is maintained through a different way of thinking, compared to other places. Because los Caños de Meca is more than a tourist centre or small coastal jewel (relying on Barbate). Caños is the example of coexistence that any developed country would want for its society. Here nobody is of more than an authentic cañoaddict who will never turn their back on someone who greets them, or asks or demands help. The Andalusian spirit, the "gaditana essence" for example and the warmth of the local people of Barbate, Vejer and Conil etc. mixed up with the people of Seville, Malaga, Cordoba, Valencia, Catalan, Germany, Italy, Sweden, France, Madrid... and all coexist with the perfection and imperfection of a large family.

Each 28th of August, is celebrated the legendary, Noche por la Paz(Night for Peace). It is a meeting around a fire with hundreds of types of drums and other percussion instruments. People speak, sing, share, know and live the experience intensely. The celebration of peace cannot be carried out in a better manner - meeting friends of all ages. The temperature of this night in August, which invites you to approach the bonfire. The dances with fire, of great spectacle - at times - with amazing movements and joining of the body with music, the night and the flames.

It´s curious how so many visitors do not even know this event exists, that is celebrated every year next to the Faro de Trafalgar. To arrive is very simple, you cannot go wrong following the main road that runs to the lighthouse. We recommended you not to use the ar, it´s a few minutes by foot from the center of Caños and parking is always difficult. In addition it is possible to return via the beach, and if the sky is clear it is a great sight. The light of Caños de Meca is a source of inspiration for many diverse artists, some of them have made their home here. Like the great Russian Painter, Muhadin Kishev.

As we say, the stroll by a the Avda. Trafalgar is reccommended to the visitor. In high season (July and August) there are facilities of all types: clothes shops, articles for decoration, crafts... and lovely houses with dream views and magical names.

As well as them we must also add the numerous special bars, restaurants and lodgings that offer the best of the "gaditana" kitchen, especially seafood dishes. Also the supermarkets that supply to those who - with the day in front of them, they prepare their picnic for the beach. .

One of the obligatory visits in this area is the Cortinas de Agua from Castillejos (and always at low tide, since when the tide rises you can be cut off in the cliffs) in the direction of Barbate over the rocks. We will need good footwear and there are magnificent views along the way. In some points the presence of nudism is notable, also there is a gay presence.
