into the Costa de la Luz
Conil
de la Frontera, part of its urban centre earned the
status of Historic anda Artistic Collection, shaped
by the typical whiteswashed houses and with a street
layout reminder of Medieval times. The central vestige
of its old defensive walls is represented by the
gate known as the Puerta de las Villa (from 16th
century) which opened to the road to Vejer.
In
the summers mouths, the Festivals and Historic Partys
are the stars in the Conil de la Frontera nights, Have
a Discoteque in Los Bateles (white carpa in the beach)
and Summer Cinema for everybody.
Erected
more than one hundred years earlier, the Tower of Guzman
was a key component of the primitive castle arranged
for construction by Alonso Perez Guzman. With the same
defensive purpose, although constucted during 16 and
17th centuries. Several watch towers, namely those
of el Puerco, Roche and Castilnovo, mark out the littoral
of the town.
In
the reference to religious places of interest, the
parochial church of Saint Catalina (16-17th century)
comprises Renaissance and Baroque influences, and stands
on the foundations of the work of the old Minimous
of the Victory Friars. Other interesting buildings
sharing baroque features include the Chapel of the
Holy Ghost (17th century) and the Church and Hospice
of Mercy (18th century). La
Chanca, a 16th century salting industry and warehouse
for boats anda fishing gear used almadrabas:
